Christmas 2008
We spent Christmas here in San Diego. James' younger brother and sister (ages 12 & 15) came to visit from Wisconsin and we had a nice big dinner and lazy day just hanging out with friends, playing pool and wii. The next day I flew up North to see my family for the weekend with the intent of getting my mom's 1987 Chevy pickup. She knew we only had one vehicle and the truck was a junker that she just used for local errands so she didn't mind parting with it in order to help James and I out.
Knowing the thing was 21 years old and probably wouldn't make it to SD, I convinced my dad to help me tow it back down to SD on the back of his SUV. Well, much to my surprise, my mom went all sneaky on me and actually got us a 1997 Ford F250!!! White, full-size bed in mint condition with only 64,000 miles! I was absolutely stunned. I decided not to tell James and to just carry on as if I was towing the old truck down. Really, my dad and I drove the new one down, no towing necessary.
I parked it down the street, eventually telling him to come out and look at something in the garage. Then I casually tossed him the keys, with a Ford keychain. He was a little confused until I fessed up and took him down the block to our new ride. James was S-H-O-C-K-E-D!!! He is loving his new truck, already took it in to have a belt changed and continuing to offer to drive when we go places. It has been such a nice convenience not having to drive him to work, or run all the errands on my own. He can take the dogs to the park now while I am working or pick up dinner before I get home. It's been wonderful!

Pointsettia Bowl
In December my Aunt Debbie flew out to San Diego from Boise to see the Boise State Football team play in the Pointsettia Bowl. I met her downtown for lunch and then we headed over to the stadium for the tailgate party.
I never knew there were so many die-hard BSU fans. My aunt had her BSU shirt, sweatshirt and parka as well as orange rain slickers (just in case, luckily the weather was nice), an orange purse which garnered multiple compliments from other fans, blue and orange marti gras beads and a fake tatoo on her cheek! She even brought me a BSU hoodie because there was no way she'd let me go if I didn't represent. :)
They played TCU, or Texas Christian University. And there were no where near as many fans for TCU as there were for BSU. The energy was great, everyone on vacation in San Diego to watch their hometeam play in a bowl game, just having fun.
There were about 35,000 fans at the game and I swear, probably 25,000 were rooting for BSU. I was amazed at how many Boisens (?) came out to SD for the game. Overall we had a really fun time but unfortunately BSU lost, 17-16. Darn! It was great fun hanging out with my aunt though and now I'm looking forward to making a trip out there to see them on home turf. Apparently they are the only ones with blue turf, humorously termed Smurf Turf. Lol.

Thanksgiving 2008
We did Thanksgiving at our house. About 20+ friends came for the feast.
3 Turkeys - 1 deep fried, 1 smoked and 1 traditional.
1 ham, mashed potatoes, green bean caserole, stuffing.
Salad, rolls, & pies galore!
This guys sure seemed to be enjoying it.
And no feast is complete without Grandma's Strawberry Pretzel Salad.
Ooh and a keg of Newcastle!
Scotty fell asleep early...
Oy! It's been so long...
